The Keuka Lake Association (KLA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt designated charitable educational organization. The KLA's tax I.D. (EIN) is #22-2599218 and donations are tax deductible as allowable by law. Membership and general donations can be accessed by filling out the form located on this page. Additionally there are many other ways to give to the KLA that could benefit all involved! Below are alternative options for giving beyond membership and one-time cash donations. For more information on these options or if you need routing instructions please contact us at: info@keukalakeassociation.org or call 315-694-7324.
Gifts of Stock
A gift of stock is a great way to support the Keuka Lake Association. If you have stock that has appreciated greatly in value, you may consider giving securities as a year-end gift to the KLA. Giving long-term appreciated stock offers you a two-fold tax saving. First, you avoid paying capital gains tax on the increased value of your stock. Second, you receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock on the date of your gift to the KLA. For income tax purposes the value of a gift of stock may be deducted up to 30% of your adjusted gross income with an additional five-year carry forward of any balance. Making a gift of stock to the KLA is easy. Just inform your broker of your intention to make a gift and notify the KLA! We will provide the routing instructions for the transfer.
Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) Donations
Some benefactors may wish to make an IRA QCD donation from an annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). Such IRA withdrawals have special requirements: (1) The IRA qualified charitable distribution allows individuals age 70½ or older to donate up to $108,000/year directly from an IRA to qualified charities. Due to changes made by the SECURE 2.0 ACT, for those born in 1951 or later, the age for taking the first Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) is 73. The amount of the QCD is excluded from the donor’s taxable income. (2) A gift to a charitable organization from an individual’s IRA can count toward the annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) by the IRS. (3) Transfer must be made directly from your IRA's custodian to the KLA. (4) Transfers must be completed by the end of the calendar year in order to qualify as a current tax year gift.
Memorial and Tribute Gifts
The KLA is honored to receive memorial or tribute gifts for both Association members and non-members. The Association accepts memorial gifts in the form of checks, credit cards, or gifts of stock. When making your memorial or tribute gift, please note the name of the individual you wish to honor and indicate the contact person to be notified of your gift. Please make your gift payable to the Keuka Lake Association.
Donor Advised Funds
Donor Advised Funds (DAF) are the fastest growing giving method and a tax efficient way to manage charitable donations. Donor Advised Funds allow donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund over time. Grants made to KLA through Donor Advised Funds can be designated for KLA to use wherever the need is greatest or aligned with areas that match supporters’ interests. Donations can also be used to pay for sustaining memberships.
